Conhecemo-nos em Agosto de 2017 no pique-nique do primeiro aniversário do grupo de facebook Lixo Zero Portugal, a que ambas pertencemos, e foi aí que partilhamos intenções de fazermos algo mais prático do que cada uma de nós já o fazia e ainda o faz nos seus blogs, e no seu dia a dia.
Em Fevereiro deste ano, o Day by day for Zero Waste e o Zero Waste Kids reuniram forças e formaram o Zero Waste Porto Network, por achar que localmente seria importante "pôr as mãos na massa" e começar a incentivar pequenas mudanças práticas, que terão um impacto enorme localmente, mas também a nível global no planeta.
Já temos página de facebook, e de instagram e temos email, caso nos queiram contactar por essa via.
Entre vários espaços intervencionados, foi no bar café das piscinas do fluvial que conseguimos o impensável ao fim de cerca de dois meses da intervenção. A erradicação total das palhinhas neste café. Estamos uma vez mais muito contentes e orgulhosas desta grande conquista, um passo tão pequeno com um enorme contributo. Um bem haja às piscinas do fluvial.
Entretanto, formamos o grupo Zero Waste Porto Network, no facebook, apenas para membros interessados em fazer algo prático na nossa comunidade.
Há muita coisa para mudar e quantos mais pensarmos que por muito pouco que façamos, fazemos muito e que todos os braços são bem vindos, o Zero Waste Porto Network está de portas abertas para vos acolher, pois só juntos poderemos chegar mais longe e a um bom resultado.
Por isso, se estás de passagem pelo Porto, se vives cá, ou se apenas trabalhas cá, mas queres fazer algo prático, junta-te a nós.

It was on the penultimate day of the second month of the year that it all began!
We met in August 2017 on the first anniversary of the Facebook group Lixo Zero Portugal, to which we both belong, and it was there that we shared our intentions to do something more practical than each of us already did and yet does it in your blogs, and in your day to day.
In February of this year, Day by day for Zero Waste and Zero Waste Kids joined forces and formed the Zero Waste Porto Network because it felt it would be locally important to "get your hands dirty" and start encouraging small practical changes. a huge impact locally, but also globally on the planet.

Our first event took place on April 14, a beach cleaning, in the Dunes of the local Nature Reserve of the Douro Estuary. On the day we had a good surprise, Terras de Gaia did a little report about our project. To which we are very proud to be able to also disclose the Zero Waste Porto Network.
Among several spaces intervened, it was in the coffee bar of the fluvial pools that we achieved the unthinkable after about two months of intervention. Total eradication of straws in this coffee. We are once again very pleased and proud of this great achievement, such a small step with a huge contribution. Our thanks to the fluvial pools.
In the meantime, we formed the Zero Waste Porto Network group on facebook, only for members interested in doing something practical in our community.
There is a lot to change and the more we think about how little we do, we do a lot and all arms are welcome, the Zero Waste Porto Network is open to welcome you, because only together we can go further and a good result.

Finally the big day arrived!
Tudo começou em Setembro do ano passado, quando no final dos directos sentimos a necessidade de nos reencontrarmos e nos conhecermos pessoalmente. Desde a semana dos directos que nunca mais deixamos de nos falar diariamente e de buscarmos energias ao grupo, tão encantador e formado por mulheres incríveis e guerreiras. Orgulho-me tanto de fazer parte dele.
It all started in September of last year, when at the end of the live we felt the need to meet again and get to know each other personally. Since the week of the direct we never stop talking about ourselves daily and looking for energies to the group, so charming and formed by incredible women and warriors. I'm so proud of being part of it.
O reencontro foi numa loja muito querida de todas nós, desafiada pela sua proprietária que igualmente se identifica com este estilo de vida. Só tinha lógica encontrarmo-nos na Maria Granel, em Lisboa.
The reunion was in a very dear shop of all of us, challenged by its owner who also identifies with this lifestyle. It was only logical to meet Maria Granel, in Lisbon.
A definição da data, oficializou o encontro. Já estava na agenda. O dia 7 de Janeiro de 2018 seria o grande dia, para conhecer os rostos por de trás da tela, que há muito nos identificávamos e que desejaríamos conhecer.
A melhor forma de começar o ano, é com pessoas que libertam a mesma energia e se focam no mesmo objectivo.
Digo-vos que somos todas pessoas reais e com uma energia tão boa que não vos consigo descrever. No encontro senti muito amor. Sim essa foi a energia que nos circundou, o AMOR!

A Maria Granel recebeu-nos com um brunch sem desperdício, em que o conceito foi BYOC ("bring your own container"), no entanto, a Maria Granel estava preparada para nos fornecer todos os utensílios reutilizáveis, caso houvesse algum que nos faltasse. Houve as delícias 100% bio e vegetais da The Love Food (que vieram acondicionadas em embalagens reutilizadas de sacos dos seus fornecedores, como podemos ver nas fotos em baixo). Todas estas delícias foram servidas nas lindas peças da cerâmica da Círculo, e os iogurtes artesanais da YogurtNest.
Maria Granel welcomed us with a brunch without waste, in regard to BYOC ("bring your own container"), however, Maria Granel was prepared with all the utensils reusable, if there were any that lacked. There were about 100% of biological and vegetable delights from The love food (which came packaged in reusable packaging from their suppliers, as we can see in the pictures below). All these delicacies were served in the beautiful pieces of the ceramics of the Círculo, and the craftsmen of yogurt of YogurtNest.

After sharing experiences at the table, it was time to listen to Cátia Curica, from Organii Bio, and her homemade tips and recipes without waste, for beauty.
Tivemos ainda o privilégio de conhecer e conversar com a Sabrina Sabatini, representante Zero Waste Youth International e ouvi-la falar do projecto e de como tudo começou.
We also had the privilege to meet and talk with Sabrina Sabatini, Zero Waste Youth International representative, and hear her talk about the project and how it all began.
No final deste dia tão maravilhoso comprometemo-nos em unirmo-nos para levar mais longe esta luta como Comunidade Zero Desperdício 🚯💚 e influenciar mais pessoas de norte a sul do país.

Por vezes, achamos que estaremos a ter uma melhor opção para o ambiente, e na realidade, quando outra pessoa, mesmo que seja do outro lado do mundo, nos mostra uma nova alternativa, é que nos apercebemos que a nossa não era assim tão amiga do ambiente.
I would like to share some social network partnerships today, a conversation I had with a profile @myzerowasteworld. Sometimes we think that we are having a better choice for the environment, and in reality, when another person, even on the other side of the world, shows us a new alternative, we realize that ours was not so friendly the environment.
Pois é, foi o que aconteceu desta vez, com este perfil. @myzerowasteworld partilhou a sua experiência com as escovas de dentes em bambu, mais concretamente, que o seu cabo é biodegradável, mas que as cerdas infelizmente ainda não o são e que tinha que as retirar/separar da restante parte da escova e que estas iriam para o lixo normal ou orgânico.
Yeah, that's what happened this time, with this profile. @myzerowasteworld shared his experience with bamboo toothbrushes, more specifically that his cable is biodegradable, but that the bristles unfortunately are not yet and that he had to remove them from the rest of the brush and that they would for normal or organic waste.
Foi aí, então que eu sugeri que em vez de retirar as cerdas e deitar o cabo no lixo orgânico, que desse outra função às escovas, que é o que tenho vindo a fazer, desde que comecei esta minha jornada para o Zero Desperdício e que até mesmo com as anteriores escovas em plástico.
It was then that I suggested that instead of removing the bristles and throwing the cord in the organic garbage, I gave the brushes another function, which is what I have been doing since I started this journey to Zero Waste and even with previous plastic brushes.

Mas por exemplo, outra função que tenho vindo a dar às minhas escovas velhas, é usá-las na limpeza, por exemplo da banheira, zonas mais difíceis de limpar. Estas são as minhas duas soluções para as escovas de dentes que ainda não são totalmente biodegradáveis e/ou recicláveis.
But for example, another function that I have been giving to my old brushes is to use them in the cleaning, for example of the bathtub, areas more difficult to clean. These are my two solutions for toothbrushes that are not yet fully biodegradable and/or recyclable.
